“How Reggae Changed The World”

A good mix of Bob Marley covers and history about Jamaica, reggae and the artist. I learnt a lot of new things such as:

• Jamaicans carry the surname of their ancestor’s slave master. Their connection with their ancestors prior to being brought into slavery has been effectively and cruelly severed
• The murdered bodies of slaves hung from trees were known as “strange fruit”
• Bob Marley performed at a national “Smile Jamaica Concert” after being shot in the arm before the performance. His wife and friend were also shot in the same attack. All amazingly survived and the subsequent concert unified the country

I was not prepared for how cold the air conditioning would be in this tiny venue and I spent the majority of the show trying to not cross my arms so as to not look unimpressed with the show.
