I love supporting an underdog. Went here alone for lunch and left feeling full and satisfied. Three yum cha dishes for under $20. Pretty reasonable I think. If you bring a friend I’d imagine you’d probably get more value and variety per person. Don’t understand the overly dramatic negative reviews though. I find it suspicious that the majority of them seem to come from people who have joined this site just for their one disgusted outburst. If I went to a spectacularly bad place, I might be motivated to do the same, but Golden Crown certainly doesn’t fit that category. Food wise, I would say they’re on par with the yum cha restaurants you’d find along Gouger Street – decent in other words. Service is better than BBQ City’s. Just expect the indifferent variety common to most Asian eateries. Price wise, well…okay they’re not absurdly cheap as the solitary dollar sign on Urbanspoon would imply, but at the same time, hardly expensive. Worth giving a go if you feel like yum cha but can’t be bothered with CBD parking.
