I struggled with this exhibition. It is actually hard to say anything more than that
Do exhibitions matter now unless you can take a good selfie in it or turn it into social media content? The elitist part of me enjoyed what happened to art after it became detached from mastery over physical media. It gave art the scope to become purely about intellect, concept and story. Of course this […]
Comme ci, comme ca. It’s been a few weeks since I’ve dined here, but is it terrible that I can only remember a painting of a pug dog’s butt hole and some weirdly extruded corn puree? Anyway, this place is oooookay. The food isn’t mind blowing, but good enough for those with money to burn. […]
Ambivalent. So I’ve been here a few times, but I’ve yet to witness this terrible service that previous reviewers have mentioned. The ramen here is generous and inoffensive. I’m not a ramen expert so I can’t vouch for how authentic it is, but I’ve yet to have a ramen that had me hankering to revisit […]
Ambivalent Omnivore. As an omnivore with lots of vegan/vegetarian friends, this place is definitely one of the better vegetarian places I’ve tried. The fake proteins are interesting, but I think the better dishes are those that don’t try to be something they’re not. Worth trying out. Location Gawler Place, City Centre, Adelaide, SA
So in place of the old Nghi Ngan Quan, we now have Mai Kitchen. The food and service is good but I foresee an up hill battle in attracting patrons to this new venture. Yes, the ambience of the restaurant is much better; The new decor is nice and that bloody door bell has been […]
I’m sure this is the hipster in me, but I actually loathe this place. Yes I want Vietnamese food to be celebrated, but I have such a problem with the idiotic interior design and styling of this place. The mason jars are infuriating and the space is so dark and awkward. As for the food […]
FOMO. Awesome food and wine, marred ever so slightly by imperfect service. That is not to say that service was bad. It’s just not at the level of what you would expect from a degustation experience of this calibre. Part of this is no doubt intentional – this is meant to be informal and fun […]
Bread roll yiros Frankenstien. If you like your bread roll the size of bicep, stuffed full of meat, then this place will have you covered. For me though, I think the bread rolls here have crossed the boundary and are so different from what I know to be a Vietnamese bread roll that I find […]
Service and food are okay. If you are craving some Vietnamese food and can’t be bothered going further west then I guess you could do worse. Location Prospect Road, Prospect, Adelaide, SA
Disclaimer: I don’t really understand going out for breakfast / bunch. These are meals you can very easily prepare at home with some practice. Can’t vouch for the coffee here either as I didn’t try it. With all that out of the way, I guess all I can review is the ambience. With the charm […]
This definitely isn’t a first date restaurant – more the sort of place you’d visit with a close friend or partner of several years in tracky dacks. Food is okay. Service is friendly albeit a bit slow. Location Churchill Road, Prospect, Adelaide, SA
Has great potential. I really like the design and interior of Golden Boy. Service is also excellent and extremely attentive. Unfortunately though, me and my dining partner had to rush off to go see a movie. I think this might have been part of the reason why the latter end of our dining experience was […]
Some restaurants of this calibre display their skills by manipulating food to the chef’s exact specifications. I feel Attica works the other way around, starting with the exact selection of produce and the creation of a dish around it. The result is something that feels more relaxed and organic, belying how much precision is actually […]
The smell that you get approaching this place is sooooo promising but unfortunately is a bit of a let down when you actually eat an item. Their house chimichurri sauce is pretty good and fairly different from what I’ve had previously. However it’s not enough to motivate me to return. Location Goodwood Road, Goodwood, Adelaide, […]
Different, yummy and worth trying out once but not sure I’d return Location City Centre
I went here for a late lunch and so far, it’s not anywhere near as busy as the sushi train down the road. This presents a bit of an issue if you take anything off the conveyor belt as chances are, it has probably been sitting there doing several rounds before you get to it. […]
This place does, as many have already remarked, indeed look a lot like Melbourne’s Chin Chin. It’s really good that we’re starting to see dining places like this in Adelaide. I just wish though, that people tried harder to develop a unique Adelaidian style of interior design rather than aping current trends. I know I […]
Quite basic. It’s okay food but if this is your bench mark for cheap Vietnamese food, you need to dine out more 🙂 1 Helpful vote Location Fullarton
This place has potential. If the owners are reading this, just lightly re-bake your bread or invest in something that keeps it warm and crunchy. Bread roll fillings are spot on, but the bread was a bit sad. Location Goodwood Road, Goodwood, Adelaide, SA
I…kinda liked it?. Technically, creating good desserts without eggs is a pretty amazing achievement. However, if you’re not allergic to eggs, it’s probably easier to give the queues a miss. Perfectly decent food, just not worth lining up for. Location Goodwood Road, Goodwood, Adelaide, SA
This almost feels like the sort of meal you’d have camping. Cold, basic and wrapped in foil. Location Prospect Road, Prospect, Adelaide, SA
Don’t get the fisso menu. Nice food, but fairly dim and noisy setting. Also, contrary to what everyone else here has said, don’t get the fisso “let us feed you” dinner menu. For the same cost, you will be able to try more by ordering items individually, with the added benefit of being able to […]
Unidentified Jazz Music. Good service, okaaaay food…but I struggle to find anything else to say about this place. Wish they could have told me what the Asian Jazz music they were playing was though. Da da da daaa, da da da daa daa, dum dum dum… Location City Centre
It’s just a burger…. Unremarkable. Chips are different (skins on), but nothing really to rave about. Location Rundle Mall, City Centre, Adelaide, SA
I had the cola ribs with apple slaw. Pretty good, nice decent serving for the price. My friends’ main meals looked like entrees but everyone was very happy – especially with their creme brûlée desserts. Service is pretty laid back. Good place to go if you’re not in a hurry and don’t want huge portions. […]
Cosi cosi. This would be a good lunch place to take an out of town business/suited colleague. Smart decor, unobtrusive but attentive service, decent (albeit expensive) safe food. Rich food (I swear everything came with mayo in/on/with it) for a well to do crowd. Location City Centre
Very hearty food, very generous portions. Eating here you get the sense that you’ve just been invited into someone’s home to share a meal with their family. This characteristic probably explains the slow service as it really does look like only two people looking after an entire restaurant while relatives are out the back doing […]
I liked this better than Burger Theory. Decent burgers, with a very extensive range of sides that makes this place worth revisiting. Location O’connell Street, North Adelaide, Adelaide, SA
It’s pricey…. …but the creaming soda was very yummy. The spicy onion rings were also very good, but probably too salty to have by themselves. Possibly better in a burger, or with a toastie. Location Rundle Mall, City Centre, Adelaide, SA
Nice Grilled Pork Balls. My sister and I had the combination beef noodle and the vermicelli with grilled pork balls for a late 2pm lunch. Both meals were very decent and very cheap. The pho did not have a traditionally deep/rich or hearty a beef flavour as I’ve had elsewhere, but this might appeal to […]
Average. I can’t vouch for how authentic the ramen here is, but I can see how someone might not like it. I guess it’s a decent feed for the price, but it does feel like you could do better making this at home yourself. Location Leigh Street, City Centre, Adelaide, SA
