Nick Drnaso
8/10 Book

I have a prejudice about graphic novels in that they feel both too short and too long at the same time. The artwork often seems to take up too much space and the plot happens either too quickly or too slowly as a result. This graphic novel by Nick Drnaso is a masterful reversal of these expectations. It doesn’t answer any of the questions it poses, but evokes incredibly well, the bleak blank dread and anxiety experienced following the unexplained murder of a woman. Through this, Drnaso explores conspiracy theories, online hate, as well as the awkwardness of adult relationships outside of the template of the every day.
