This place is on par with Adelaide’s stalwart yum cha restaurant Dinh Hao. Yes this means waiting a minimum of 15 minutes to get a table even if you’ve made a booking, and yes it means the ‘ambience’ is crowded and noisy. But it also means you get top notch yum cha. I judge all yum cha restaurants by two dishes. Anyone can do a half decent steamed dumpling but few can do tripe or chicken feet properly. While I realise most people probably pass on these dishes but they are traditional and quite telling of the other offerings. Star House does a good job with both and goes further and adds a few novel twists to some other traditional dishes. As always there is a very strong seafood element and if you choose any special dishes expect to pay $$$. When I went in a group of 5 we averaged around $25-$30 per person. Good stuff
